Meconopsis bijiangensis

Taxonomy

This and a second species to be described are related to the Meconopsis horridula group. They were collected by Toshio Yoshida from a narrow belt between the upper Mekong and Salween rivers. The other new species from this region is Meconopsis castanea. They are to be descibed in a paper in the Journal of Japanese Botany, Vol 84 early in 2010. The joint authors of this paper will be Hideaki Ohba, Toshio Yoshida and Hang Sun. I am indebted to Alan Elliott of the Royal Botanic Garden for this information.
